Homa Papaei is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Master in Counselling Psychology from University of British Columbia (UBC). She is a wholehearted, centred and Compassionate counsellor with over fifteen years of experience supporting individuals to connect with themselves. Homa believes that each person can work through their negative thoughts or experiences to live life in a meaningful way. She believes that her role as a counsellor is to explore with the client the different pieces of their life and understand how those pieces function together.
Homa actively pursues knowledge of the latest research in techniques to enhance her existing practice and emphasize in empirically proven strategies to facilitate change. This includes a thorough understanding of neurological sciences and the growing appreciation for the mind-body connection in current research.
Her areas of expertise include: disordered eating, relationships, sleep disruption, trauma, illness/injury recovery, chronic pain and anxiety. Depending on what is most applicable to the client, she uses a combination of Trauma-informed CBT, Mindfulness, Emotional Family Focus therapy, EFFT, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) approaches.
